Level One Entering the Mandala


MODULE 1

Introduction to Buddhist Chaplaincy - Entering the Mandala (30 hours) 


Online sessions 3 x 3h

Residential session (18h)

Supervision 3 x one hour 1-1 supervision in-between sessions plus one peer supervision.

 (prison, healthcare, hospice/palliative care)

Written Assessment: Public Sector Profile Assignment 



MODULE 2

Chaplaincy Area Specialisation (30 hours)

Students will choose a public sector they wish to explore in more depth.

Online sessions 3 x 3h

Residential session (18h)

Supervision 3 x one hour 1-1 supervision in-between sessions plus one peer supervision session.

Written Assessment: Buddhist Formation Assignment - "How does my spiritual formation built on Buddhist wisdom and contemplative practice help me be with others during times of great suffering and distress?"



On completion of Module 1 and Module 2 students will be able to:


Level Two Compassion in Action - Placement and Certification


MODULE 3

Placement / Internship - Compassion in Action  (54 hours)


Students choose their volunteer or professional placement to put their learning into practice.  

Placement 48 h or 8 days

Mid-point session online (3h)

Supervision 3 x one hour 1-1 sessions with faculty

Written Assessment: Reflective Log Assignment 

It will be the responsibility of the student - in collaboration with their National Buddhist Union - to find their placement. During this module, students will be mentored by EBU course tutors and receive peer support.

Integration and Final Assessment (30 hours)


Online sessions 3 x 3h

Residential session (18h)

Supervision 3 x one hour 1-1 supervision in-between sessions plus one peer supervision
